Where is this Bir Tawil place anyway?

The Kingdom of Bir Tawil is located in the continent of Africa and is bordered by the Arab Republic of Egypt to the north and the Republic of the Sudan to the south. Its foundation as an independent kingdom is not based on any usurpation or secessionist principle, as both neighboring countries explicitly state that they hold no sovereignty over its territory.

For a more detailed explanation on the lack of state presence in the formerly stateless Bir Tawil, you may follow this link.

  3. Technically, you actually CAN rule over it, but not exclusively from the Tawil area. In other words, you could conquer the area as a foreign territory (like the way the UK owns the Falklands etc.), but you would need your own country first.

If you wanted an exclusive Bir Tawil state, you would have to have a population and government at the very least.

  5. It is not true that neither countries want Bir Tawil than the both countries say it belongs to them, although they don't make any practical step (the same as author of this website) because if they take Bir Tawil they loose Hala'ib Triangle. Beside it, the both countries can prosecute anyone who try to separate their territory and if you build there something they can come with military and take everything from you or destroy it. As long as there is nothing, they don't care, if some group of people build there village, Egypt or Sudan can send soldiers and destroy your village and deport you back to Spain. You must be rich to take some peace of land and build military to protect it. But if you are rich and you want something like that, you can also go to Somalia, occupy some peace of land 2x2km and make your state. For example Monaco is 3km long and 1,8km wide and its population is 30 000 people.
By the way it is dirty to declare yourself king which is not responsible to the law while other citizens are responsible in front of the law, it is middle age idea which survived bourgeoisie revolutions and therefore it is still present in capitalism. But it is primitive idea in any case.
So, if I am like you, now I should make website: www.republic-birtawil.com and I should state there that I made revolution and I am the new king or better said president in republic Bir Tawil. But I know that website is not enough. An entity claiming to be a state must possess an effective and independent government, it must exercise all the powers of a state independently of any outside governmental authority. Unless an entity can engage in foreign relations in an unrestricted and independent manner it cannot claim to be a state. Beside it, population of the territory must be under the effective and independent control of its own government.

  6. Okay, I made revolution this second, you are not king anymore. Kingdom is abolished and Bir Tawil is now republic. All people who support kingdom will be judged by revolutionary committee, me, sentence is death penalty:) Property of the king anywhere in the world must be seized and given back to the people of Bir Tawil, to me:) So, dear former king, where you hide yourself? I would like to demand your property from your country of residence.

  9. Sorry all of you who claim Bir Tawil as their own, but someone gave it to me as a birthday present in January. Therefore, it belongs to me.

  10. Unfortunately, the People's Democratic Soviet Republic of Bir Tawil, suffered a coup d'état today and is now the Emirate of Bir Tawil. It is a Islamic fundamentalist state out control the world via jihad with the west.

  11. My only question is, what is there that neither Egypt or Sudan wants within their borders? Think about it.

    ReplyDelete
  12. It's not hard to grasp...
The border that Egypt wants to recognize gives it the Hala'ib Triangle, and puts Bir Tawil in Sudan.
The border that Sudan wants to recognize gives it the Hala'ib Triangle, and puts Bir Tawil in Egypt.
If they felt like solving the ownership of Hala'ib Triangle, then Bir Tawil would have an official owner. However, neither side wants to give up their historic claim to the Hala'ib Triangle.
So what is there that neither wants in their borders? the fact that a claim on Bir Tawil - for either country - goes against their (more important) claim of the Hala'ib Triangle.

  13. Despite the popular belief that Bir Tawil is an empty wasteland, the Egyptian government has constructed an underground research facility near the border. It has been in operation for several years now.

  14. I overthrow the fundamental law of the emirate of Bir Tiwal and now claim myself as Emperor Adam the first of the dynasty of Bir Tawil of Africa!

  15. I enthusiastically tell Emperor Adam of land - masses of it - that lies unclaimed in Antarctica, convincing him to go on a quest to expand his empire. As an ambitious & excited Emperor Adam leaves, I seize the national treasury & government. Being a population of 1 is easy enough, but it gets boring. I decide to declare Bir Tawil a dictatorship, because dictatorships never get boring & decide to build the world's largest amusement park an the territory. I use my power as dictator to hold anyone who comes captive, no matter how terrified they may be of roller coasters. I make propaganda posters portraying myself as the coolest Dictator of Fun of the Dictatorship of Bir Tawil.
